We need a pet and house sitter at different times of the year as we are going away for at least 2 weeks in separate 1 week time-frames and on several weekdays every couple of months. This will be going on for the next two to three years.
Ideally, it would be nice to find someone who is local enough, or willing to travel often enough to return sit. (It may present a solution for someone who owns a camper van or van who would like a regular, safe parking space.)

Region: Tasmania – North West.
We have a comfortably renovated Federation cottage in a village ten minutes from Devonport in Tasmania. It offers ideal conditions for someone seeking peace and quiet, yet not isolation.

We have a large dog. He is a bull mastiff x deerhound and a very easy dog to manage but he’s not for someone who’s unused to large dogs; not because he’s difficult but because people unused to large dogs are often daunted by them. He is a fast walker on the lead so ‘dog-fit’ people are best. We need sits to be enjoyable for you and safe, happy and comfortable for him.

Our home is situated just 10 minutes drive from Devonport city where the Spirit of Tasmania comes into port, and where there is also an airport, main shopping centres etc.
We are also walking distance to the local shop/petrol station, cafe, pub, buses and river.

The central coast of Tasmania is close to snow country, mountains, lakes etc and yet minutes to wonderful beaches. Our other sitters have been very comfortable and happy here and had lovely, relaxing stays, enjoying the beauty of our large garden, our views and of course, our character of a dog who is a friendly, gentle and well behaved boy.

The usual requirements of feeding, walking, cleaning his doo’s and cuddles are the essentials.

We understand that if you’re new to Tasmania you may want to take in the sights, however, and this is very important, we don’t want our boy sitting at home all day every day, alone, wondering why we aren’t there and why no one is around. The preference is for a sitter who will be here to spend time with him, for the large part, so it’s ideal if you need a rest from the rat race, with the comforts of a modern home.

There is a log fire and reverse cycle air conditioning in the cottage and the wrap around veranda is flooded with sunshine all day in winter and the climate is perfect in summer.

The cottage has WIFI, good mobile phone connectivity etc..

Our neighbours are all good people and it’s a great community.

Preference is for a vegetarian or vegan or a sitter willing not to bring meat in our home for the duration. No smokers.

We would prefer a recent police check but will certainly require a minimum of 2-3 references, which we can phone check if need be.

There is a good local bus service which will take you to all the surrounding towns and many of the areas if you don’t have a car.

First contact on Skype would be preferred.

First sitting date requirement for 2019 is: 6th March 2019 to 13th March 2019. Second sitting date for 2019 is: 1st August 2019 to the 14th August 2019.
